In the ever-evolving landscape of the fashion world, where creativity intertwines with sophistication, the story of Saaksha and Kinni emerges as a testimony to innovation and collaboration. Founded by designer-duo Saaksha Bhat and Kinnari Kamat, the brand epitomises a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, craftsmanship and creativity. Saaksha and Kinni's distinctive aesthetic draws inspiration from the bohemian ethos, marrying intricate artisanal details with vibrant hues and flowing silhouettes. Rooted in a deep appreciation for tradition and culture, their designs encapsulate a sense of ease and sophistication, resonating with the modern Indian woman's dynamic spirit. Excerpts from an interview with Saaksha Bhat, where she traces the evolution of their brand.
How did you start on your journey in the fashion industry?
I entered this realm indirectly. After I completed my law degree at the University of Manchester in the UK, I pursued a career in law, and established a successful practice. It was through my then boyfriend and now-husband, that I met Kinnari Kamat. Affectionately known as Kinni, she and I immediately connected. Our chats frequently revolved around our mutual passion for creativity. One day, during a conversation, the topic of collaborating on a fashion label arose spontaneously. And so we made our debut at the Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) Gen Next show in 2016, we made our debut. That's how our journey began in the fashion industry, with Kamat's expertise in textiles complimenting my legal background. Since then, it has been a whirlwind experience, brimming with endless opportunities for creativity and advancement.
